Fee Schedule Changes Create Opportunities for Telepsychiatry + Teletherapy

Telebehavioral Health Allows Organizations to Expand Clinical Capacity

Recent changes to the fee schedule for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) are aimed at capacity building for organizations offering mental and behavioral health services.

The changes mean that patients, and organizations offering clinical services, now have access to a wider variety of providers — including licensed professional counselors and therapists. And through telebehavioral health partnerships, like those offered by innovaTel, organizations can more easily improve patient capacity by expanding clinical teams with the addition of remote providers.

Changes Improve Access to Care

The changes have been characterized as among the “most significant changes” in the history of the Medicare program and were made to support an “all-hands-on-deck” call to ensure maximum availability of providers for patients in need.
